Today in Haiti:
September 11, 2008
Today was: Amazing, eye opening, crazy, un-organized, frustrating, unbelievable, fast, bumpy, dusty, hot, beautiful, inspiring, long, and perfect.
We got to experience first hand the frustration that Haiti can be and learn that everything here is about patience and the ability to completely throw your plans out the window in lieu of whatever comes up.
I ate goat for the first…and maybe last time. I found out that gas is no longer available at the stations, as they’re out of it. We paid $13 US dollars for it from people on the streets with gallon jugs (milk jugs) of it. I found out that rice is $1 US dollar for about 2 cups, and most families where we are don’t make a dollar a day. I found out that my cameras can handle a ton of dust (so far). I found out that Haiti is one of the most beautiful countries in the world…that the entire norther half of the country is rain forest, mountains and gorgeous beaches. I found out that the children here are amazing. Oh, and I met and went into the home of a voodoo shaman. It’s been quite a trip…and this was just the first day.

wow, some great shots and what a first day… I don’t know why but I really like the shots that included you guys… I think because it shows the elements of what you are doing, but they are all good. A voodoo shaman, you guys really made the rounds for a first day, stay strong and keep up the great work.
