In preparation for my trip to Russia I went to shoot a dress rehearsal of the Alabama Ballet’s “Romeo and Juliet” the other day. We’re going to be traveling to Moscow in 2 weeks to do a photo/video documentary on the Bolshoi Theater, and school…highlighting the re-positioning of the school after hundreds of years of tradition. The trip is for my friend Martha Schuman, who is a senior graphic design student at Auburn University. This will be her senior thesis project, and Paul and myself were blessed with the opportunity to go along. We’ll be spending a week there in Moscow, shooting in, and around the Bolshoi…I’m getting very anxious to be there. Another interesting timing thing…the day that we touch down in Moscow will be my 23rd birthday. Here are a few shots from the Alabama Ballet and a link to the full gallery. I am in the process of setting up a studio session with Romeo and Juliet as well as some more documentary style takes on their practice in their studio space. More to come soon…I should have several rolls of film from NYC, and ATL and the ballet back in the next day or two. One last quick note: my grandfather will be undergoing open heart surgery tomorrow morning and a possible valve replacement, so please keep him in your prayers. Cheers.
