my quest for polaroids…
October 23, 2008
I decided last night that I really wanted to start shooting the toyo 4×5 at weddings, and I would really love to shoot polaroids with it. I’ve only done this once before (not at a wedding) and LOVED it. So…I got on ebay and searched for the polaroid back that I would need. Check…easy. Next step…film. Not so easy. After an entire day of researching and phone calls I came up with 3 packs of expired polaroid 57…which is 3000 speed black and white. I bought them and shot 3 frames tonight and had mixed results. The first shot…nothing. The second shot:

The third:

*note the third shot was accidentally under exposed by me…oops.
I guess I’m just going to load it up and shoot it at the wedding and see what happens. I am totally bummed that Polaroid isn’t making it anymore and that it’s literally impossible to find. Oh well…we’re researching some other options…for now I’ll make due with my huge stack of expired (by 7 years) 57. Cheers!
I love the first shot (which I guess is the second shot)… the grain on it is great, cool contrast. Always wanted to check out a 4×5 and I really should keep shooting with at least one film camera to keep my film skills sharp.
Unfortunately those types of film will be harder and harder to find (and I am sure the price will just continue to go up) although I haven’t checked out the price of a roll of velvia lately :)
great shots
