IDP camp life in Kenya
May 1, 2010
After the elections in Kenya in 2008 it’s estimated (by the UN) that 250,000 Kenyans were displaced and are living in camps that the UN has set up. I visited a few of these camps out in the Rift Valley with M.I.C.F., a local NGO that offers free counseling services in the camps during my trip in 2009. This is a look at what the camps look like. These people have been living here so long that they’ve turned these tents into their ‘permanent’ homes.

I lived in Kenya from 1976 to 1978. The generosity of the people was extraordinary. I’m sorry so many are displaced. Your second picture shows orderliness though and the farmers have been busy…
