This weekend I flew to Alabama to shoot my first wedding of 2010. I couldn’t have picked a better wedding to start the year with. I’ll save the details for the full post once the film is back, but Matthew and Kelly…congratulations! I had a great time at the wedding…thanks for letting me be a part of your big day! Treg McCoy

Treg is the Missions Director for Times Square Church and has been a friend now for several years. I met Treg way back in 2007 when I was just starting Bedouins International and he liked the idea. Since then Treg and the rest of the guys at Times Square Church have really supported the work that we’ve done and stuck with us through our growth as individuals and an organization. In November Treg called me and offered the idea of us (bedouins) moving to New York to work as interns for a year with Time Square Church. The rest, as you know, is history. I have to say…I really love how these shots turned out…it definitely doesn’t hurt that Treg’s a great guy!

This guy is hilarious. In other news, I leave today for Birmingham to shoot my first wedding of the year. I’m feeling really weird about going back to Birmingham as an ‘outsider’ and not a resident. It’s barely been 2 months and already I feel so ‘at home’ in New York that it’s hard to imagine living back in Bham. I’m really looking forward to seeing some friends that I’ve been missing these past two months, and equally excited to get wedding season up and rolling…not to mention our first couple is a really really cool couple! I fly back from Mexico on Monday only to leave for Mexico Tuesday morning bright and early for my first photography project for Times Square Church. Again…super excited, not only about getting out and shooting, but about the fact that the first project that I’m doing for TSC is with the same people in the same neighborhood as my first trip ever out of the country that changed my life completely. It’s going to be an epic year…huge things in store…I can feel it.

I’m up and about to head to LaGuardia to fly to Alabama for my first wedding of the year. Things are about to get really exciting as I’m actually out of town more than in town for the next several months between work at TSC and my weddings. I pretty much from shooting a wedding to working back at the Canal in Reynosa Mexico next week…the place where ‘it all started’. I’m so excited…stay tuend for updates from the field!

Here are a couple more shots from the POW that I did with Sarah last week. I really loved how these turned out…I’m telling you, photographing dancers is where it’s at.

It looks like I’m entering a season of ‘busyness’ again…starting tomorrow. This weekend is my first wedding of the year back in Birmingham, closely followed by an engagement session and then a flight to Mexico back to the Canal and the orphanage where it all started for me! I’m so excited about everything that’s coming up. There’s all sorts of news to share…be warned…it’s all going to be finding it’s way onto the blog soon!

New York Blizzard #1

So, as of now (my 6th week in New York) we’ve had about a dozen snow days…2 of which were officially deemed ‘blizzards’! So coming from living in Alabama for most of my life I really didn’t know anything about blizzards. I learned that they’re awesome, until about the 3rd day after…when the beautiful snow because not-so-beautiful blackish/grayish slush that gets all over you when you walk to work. But despite the slush I LOVE the snow, and the cold weather for that matter. I was born in Ohio (only lived there until I was about 5) so I think that I have the blood of a ‘northerner’ in me. Anyways…here are some of my favorite shots of our neighborhood in the blizzard:

Jessi Lambert

What can I say about Jessi…wow. Jessi has been featured on this blog more than anyone I know. She’s been my best friend for the past several years, as well as my studio manager (for Stephen DeVries Photo) and the director of development for the non-profit that I co-own, Bedouins International. Jessi moved to New York with me to work for Times Square Church as a project manager for the new missions media team. She got her degree from Auburn (where I grew up!) but we didn’t actually meet until we became neighbors in Birmingham. Jessi is one of the most caring people I’ve ever met, a great friend and, she’s incredibly smart. Check out her BLOG and find out for yourself. We did Jessi’s shoot last week during blizzard #2, which was perfect because Jessi was in Birmingham and missed blizzard #1 and was supper bummed…so we were really excited when blizzard #2 hit and she got to enjoy 16″ of snow for the first time. In summery…Jessi makes my business work. Without her I’m pretty sure they’d crash and burn.
