This week’s Portrait of the week is my dad, Dennis DeVries. Dad is a P.H.D. professor in the Fisheries Department at Auburn University, where he’s been for close to 20 years now. He grew up in Chicago, met my mom in school in Indiana and then got his P.H.D. in Columbus, Ohio, where I was born and lived until he got his job at Auburn when I was about 4 1/2 years old.

Dad is one of my favorite people in the world. He’s always fun to be around and loves to hang out, play games and have a good time with us. For Father’s Day we got him a Wii and every time I go home he plays it with us. I’m so glad that I got to photograph him for my project before I move to NYC. It was a great start to the year. I’ll have a few more family members coming soon!
