Building Homes for Haiti!
April 2, 2010
I’ve been here in Texas for the past few days with Times Square Church building prefabricated homes to ship to Haiti as part of the ongoing relief work. It’s really been an amazing experience to be a part of this project. I was talking to Jessi last night and realized that this is the first mission trip that I’ve been on since a trip early in my high school career to Wyoming that I’ve gotten to do more hands on work than photography. It’s been a lot of fun to put the camera down a little bit and get my hands dirty. I worked with a team member yesterday to construct 9 beds (each sleeps 4 people). I got to use my old wood shop skills (which I didn’t realize how much I miss) and break out a nail gun and chop saw. The best part is knowing that these homes are going to shelter people from the rainy season in Haiti where they’re living in makeshift tents right now that won’t stand a chance against the coming storms.
To read more about our trip and to watch the videos that I’ve been making check out the BrickThink Blog HERE. Hope you’re all having a fantastic week!
