Bob Miller
February 25, 2008
Bob Miller is a great friend of mine who just so happens to be doing design work for Bedouins International, the non-profit that I work for/co-own/direct. Bob and I met last summer in the building that I live in, where he was doing an internship for another friend and photographer, Cary Norton. As soon as I met Bob we hit it off, and at a college ministry we became closer friends. One day I mentioned a trip to Mexico that I was about to take with Roger and casually/jokingly said, “Hey Bob, you should come with us.” The trip was about a week and a half away. The next day Bob called me and signed up…he was going with us. That should give you an idea of how fun this guy is. So Bob came along and photographed the trip and for the first time I got to see him in action. Bob is a designer by trade, and is studying graphic design at Samford. In fact, as the print designer for Bedouins, Bob is currently re-designing the book that I published last year that started Bedouins. But I didn’t know at the time that Bob was an outstanding photographer. The trip allowed us to hang out, work together, get to know each other even better and for me to just observe Bob working as a photographer. It was amazing. All of that is said leading to this: Bob took the entire month of January to go and travel in Kenya and the surrounding areas to see what was going on. He went to look into the state of the church amongst the refugees, to see the civil unrest and to photograph the entire experience in order to bring it back and share it with those of us here who only hear the stories of the things that are going on over there. Without much more talk…Bob’s photos were amazing, and you should all sit down and take the time to read all of the commentary and just be blown away by these images. I’m honored to be working with Bob, and excited about the future of photographing with him. Be sure to visit the full gallery HERE.
