It’s the second to last day of my assignment here in Greece and it’s been amazing/busy/exhausting/intense amongst other things. We’ve spent a lot of our time out on the streets working with the overwhelming mass of poverty and addiction that plagues inner city Athens. Heroine is the drug of choice here…mixed with the poverty I mentioned, prostitution and violence which creates a really really dark atmosphere to this part of the city.

I’ve been blown away by the sheer numbers of people trapped in it here. Last night we participated in one of the larger outreaches and were surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of people in an area that’s know as “the crossroads of addiction”.

Here are a few shots from last night that will give you a taste of what we’ve been into here.

We have the day off today to relax and refresh…we’re planning on heading out to the isles in a bit, weather permitting. Looking forward to getting out of the city center and getting a little space and fresh air. Tomorrow is my last day of shooting and then it’s back to the states and to my beautiful fiancĂ©e for a wedding at Yale this weekend. I can’t stop thinking about how weird it is that one day I’m shooting heroine addicts in downtown Athens and 2 days later I’m shooting a wedding in the states. Food for thought.

I’m out…thanks for keeping up!
